Mumbai rain changes grip, visibility, braking distance and route reliability. A booking is never more important than safe conditions; delay or change the plan when flooding, strong wind or poor visibility makes the route unsafe.
Inspect for wet conditions
Tyre tread, pressure, brakes, lights, indicators, horn, mirrors and wipers on a car deserve extra attention. Reject a two-wheeler with worn tyres, weak brakes or unreliable lighting.
Use a correctly fitted helmet with a clear visor. MoRTH’s helmet quality-control order requires applicable protective helmets for two-wheeler riders to conform to the relevant Indian Standard and bear the Standard Mark.
Change riding technique
Reduce speed smoothly, increase following distance and avoid abrupt braking, acceleration or steering. Painted road markings, metal covers, loose gravel and standing water can be especially slippery.
Do not ride through water when depth, road surface or current is unclear. Water can hide potholes and damage the vehicle. Follow official traffic diversions and local warnings.
Plan the booking around weather
Ask how weather-related changes, extensions or cancellations are handled. Keep the support number available and share your route with someone you trust.
Use waterproof—not merely water-resistant—protection for the phone and documents. Carry a dry layer, but avoid loose rainwear that can obstruct controls or vision.
Know when to stop
Pull over in a safe permitted place if visibility drops, the road floods or the vehicle behaves abnormally. Do not shelter under unstable trees or structures.
After heavy rain, report brake, electrical or engine concerns immediately. Do not continue simply to meet a return deadline; contact the provider and agree on the safest next step.
